Character Name: Antonio Fernández Silva-Carriedo
Country represented: Kingdom of Spain
Birthday: February 12th
Age: 27
Occupation: Kindergarten teacher
Residence: [ ? ]
Ten True Facts: 1. Now, Antonio can be a bit of a flirt. ... Or a lot of a flirt. But can you blame a /Spanish/ man for being like that? Flirting comes as naturally as breathing for Antonio. Of course, he usually refrains from flirting with the mothers of his students, as they are most often taken, but..
2. Seeing as how he's been teaching for quite a few years, he's taught quite a few students. And, of course, seeing as how kids generally adore him, at least a couple have asked their parents if they can come back to see him every once in a while, even after they'd grown up. These kids are, coincidentally, usually the ones who also happen to speak Spanish; Antonio would've helped them to learn English faster and easier than they would have at home at that age, in addition to helping them along with other things, as he does with other children. Not to say that every single child has loved him, of course.
3. Antonio cares a lot more about his brother than some might think. They were extremely close when they were younger, and Antonio ended up looking up to his brother as a role model. However, as they grew, their differences eventually came between them and they had a enormous fight. It was only recently ( as in only a couple years ago ) that they started talking again.
4. It generally takes Antonio quite a while to notice if something is happening, and even then, he won't be able to fully acknowledge it until it actually /happens/. He doesn't mean to be like this, but he also doesn't really pay attention to his surroundings unless that was the only thing that he was doing at the moment. So, basically, he is an absolutely horrid multi-tasker.
5. One of his favourite things to do is make other people smile. Even if it's just a random woman on the street, if he is able to make her laugh ( even if it's /at/ him and not /with/ him ), it is sure to make his day.
6. Since coming to Hartsbridge, he's gotten a bit lazy in his ~responsibilities~ as a Catholic, but that isn't to say that he doesn't believe any less. He still goes to church almost every Sunday, and he keeps a rosary in the drawer of his bedside table and a cross necklace around his neck ( a gift from his mother ).
7. He does not have the best sleeping patterns. By American standards, anyways. Despite the fact that he's been living in America for a few years now, his sleeping pattern is still adjusted to life in Spain - early mornings and late nights, accompanied by a 5 hour long nap in the middle of the day; he's almost never actually 'tired', though he does drink a great deal of coffee, just to ensure that.
8. In an effort to keep himself busy ( not that he isn't already, but ) and to earn a bit more pocket money, he also teaches a tango class on Wednesday and Thursday nights. It has generally turned out to be a successful endeavor.
9. His overly-optimistic and laid-back view on life might be viewed as stupid, or even idiotic by some people ( cough Afonso cough cough ), but Antonio could beg to differ! He tends not to worry as much as the next person, and believing that everything will turn out alright in the end is a lot better than thinking that every single thing that goes wrong could end... well, everything.
10. People don't usually complain about his being over-affectionate and somewhat touchy-feely, passing it off as a ~European~ thing; he greets everyone with a handshake and a kiss on both cheeks, and goodbye hugs ( and sometimes kisses! ) are not uncommon. But, not everyone enjoys being so 'close' with someone that they've just met, and if they ask him to back off a bit, he'll gladly do so.
Writing Sample:
This was the second time this week that Antonio had been required to break these two up before anything became too serious ( though the first time wasn't this bad ) - it wasn't even lunchtime yet, it was still Monday, and this was becoming a rather tedious task.
He was currently crouched, sitting on his heels, and making an attempt to calm the two boys down , though the attempt was indeed proving to be futile.
On his left was a boy, Miguel, who, if he was to be entirely honest, was a little bit of a teacher's pet and appeared to be rather spoiled at home, and he tended to believe that if he wanted something, then he deserved it and should get it. Even if it wasn't his. And then on his right was Manuel, who was almost the exact /opposite/ of Miguel in almost every single way - he was much quieter, much more reserved; the poor boy even appeared to have a few issues with self-esteem already. Manuel also kind of tended to have a huge temper is provoked, which was very easy to do, unfortunately.
The argument wasn't very loud - not as loud as it had been when it started, anyways - and it was switching between being in Spanish and English ( Antonio himself had chosen Spanish earlier, hoping that it might somehow calm them ), so it was rather unlikely that anyone attempting to listen would be able to pick up on whatever they were yelling about. Not that it was really anything to fret over if you were to miss it. This had all started because little Miguel might have stayed on the swing set longer than he was supposed to, and, Manuel just happened to be waiting in line right after him, and. Well.
The poor kid had even started the day in a relatively good mood for once.
IC SURVEY
1.) Introduce yourself in a few sentences!
Oh, alright! That sounds like it'd be easy enough~ My name is Antonio, and I am 27 years old ( though I've been told that I don't really look like it! ) and I generally tend to look at the bright side of things, to live life to the fullest - all that sort of stuff!
2.) What's your greatest dream in life?
I would absolutely love to have a big family! I really would. But I guess you've got to settle down first before that could happen.
3.) What is your biggest pet peeve?
Hm... When people assume that I am a complete idiot, I suppose... I did have to go through university and what not to become a teacher, you know.
4.) Why did you come to Hartsbridge?
My mother had suggested that I do so, actually... To check up on my brother and all that, you know?
5.) Do you consider yourself an optimist or a pessimist? Why?
Well, I would believe myself to be an optimist... if it wasn't already obvious, haha!
6.) Do you prefer functionality or style, and why?
Functionality, usually. Most anything 'stylish' of mine was usually a gift from a friend!
7.) What are two of your best qualities? Two of your worst?
... Hm! Well, I suppose that one of my best qualities is that I always try to look at the bright side of things - it is actually rather difficult for me to be pessimistic. And another good quality might be... well, I try to put passion into everything that I do! Whether it be teaching, singing, or simply talking, I always try to put in a lot of effort. As for some of my worst qualities... h-haha, well, a lot of things tend to fly over my head, or so I've been told. And... I can also be a tad possessive at times.
8.) What was your childhood like? Did you get along well with any siblings you had? What about your parents?
It was alright, I guess! I got along with both of my parents, as well as my brother ( most of the time, anyways ), and everything went pretty smoothly in my opinion. ... Until a few years ago, but everything has gotten a lot better recently, so there's no need to worry.
9.) What is your happiest memory?
I think.. well, I can't really decide, but one of them was when I made up with my brother. It was a huge relief~.
10.) Describe yourself physically.
Uhm... I don't know-- I'm somewhat tall, and my skin is still pretty tanned. I have green eyes and I really need to cut my hair because it's been kind of getting in my eyes lately, hahaha! ... Wow, my brother was right - this is a kind of dating application, isn't it?
